The R+D team at Applynano Solutions includes doctors and technicians in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and Materials Science. We have extensive experience in the synthesis of nanomaterials and their incorporation to thermosetting and thermoplastic polymers for a range of applications such as adhesives, coatings and continuous fibre composite materials.


Our work covers different types of nanomaterials, focusing on carbon-based materials such as carbon nanotubes, principally graphene-based. We also have fully equipped processing facilities.

Our specialist background is in the synthesis and characterisation of nanomaterials and products made from nanomaterials. A background that is vital to fully understand the properties of these materials, and how to attain their best possible performance.

The techniques we use, include Thermogravimetric Analysis, Raman and Infrared Spectroscopy, X-Ray Photo-electron Spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction and Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopy.


At Applynano, we have our own graphene oxide production facility. By careful selection of raw materials, coupled with our in-house production, we are able to control the properties of the graphene oxide perfectly. Both of these aspects are vital to obtaining a perfect graphene with the ideal surface chemistry, dimensions and polymer compatibility. All our materials are subject to exhaustive quality-assurance controls.

Our R+D+i work focuses on the development and implementation of new environmentally-friendly processes with enhanced efficiency and flexibility, based on the reuse of raw materials and chemicals to contribute to reducing emissions and environmental impact.
